These are the most expensive homes up for auction this weekend

The country’s real estate market faces its biggest test of 2022 so far, with a Certified Auction Super Saturday taking place this weekend.

According to data from Domain, a staggering 3116 auctions are scheduled in capital cities across the country.

This is the third highest number of auctions in a single Saturday since Domain began recording the metric.

The plethora of auction listings is due to the fact that the next two weekends are long holiday weekends, which has forced sellers and real estate agents to schedule the large number of homes to go under the hammer. .

Perched on one of Hunters Hill’s most revered streets and boasting breathtaking views of Sydney Harbor and the Sydney Harbor Bridge, this five-bedroom, five-bathroom abode presents itself as a very convincing.

As well as world-class views of Australia’s most iconic waterscape, the prime property also benefits from a vast and extremely desirable 1013 square meter block.

Features and benefits are plentiful, but some of the highlights include an outdoor pool and spa, large kitchen with luxury appliances, generous master suite, and three-car garage.

Built in 1899, the historic turn-of-the-century mansion is a quintessential example of a charming Longueville Federation residence in Sydney’s Lower North Shore.

The sandstone stunner is spread over a sprawling 696 square meter block and benefits from five bedrooms, three bathrooms and an enclosed two-car garage.

Although the interior of the house might look a little dated, there’s still a lot to like about this place, including a huge master suite with two bathrooms and a walk-in closet, a playroom/games room and a professional chef’s kitchen with swathes of luxurious Greek marble. .

9 Widford Street, Hawthorn East, Victoria – $5 million

Once the personal residence of famed Australian architect AC Leith, this 1930-built gem in Melbourne’s affluent Hawthorn East suburb is a designer’s dream.

The Art Deco home was such a hit when it was unveiled in 1930 that it was featured in the 1930 Australian magazine Home Beautiful.

Sadly, the interior of the four-bedroom, three-bathroom home still looks stuck in the 1930s, with everything from the kitchen, bathrooms, and living areas showcasing a nearly century-old aesthetic.

The positive takeaway from this comely abode, however, is that because it remains largely intact, the new owners of the house essentially have a blank canvas and some truly magnificent bones to work with.

59-61 Cityview Road, Balwyn North, VIC – $5.6 million – $6.16 million

Features include a giant indoor pool and lounge area, sauna, gym, two kitchens, pantry, and beautiful manicured grounds.
